About Fantom (FTM)
Opera has been replaced with the new Fantom technology stack, which is referred to as Fantom Sonic. The new Fantom Virtual Machine (FVM), Carmen database storage, and an enhanced Lachesis consensus mechanism make up the core components of the new technology stack, which validators and other nodes will use to power the network.
Stated differently, Sonic represents the subsequent version of the Fantom network, and its upgrade does not necessitate a hard fork. As the FVM is entirely compatible with the EVM and associated programming languages (Solidity, Vyper, etc.), so too should existing smart contracts, services, and tools on Fantom Opera be fully compatible with mainnet Fantom Sonic.
