About Polkadot (DOT)
Multiple blockchains can connect to and function inside of Polkadot, an open-source blockchain platform and cryptocurrency that operates at Layer 0. It enables protocols and blockchain to combine their security and distinctive features. In a nutshell, Polkadot is a heterogeneous multi-chain solution that is scalable.
Because Polkadot is completely adaptable and doesn't assume anything about the type or arrangement of the chains inside the network, it is heterogeneous. If certain requirements are met, even non-blockchain systems or data structures can turn into parachains.
A collection of separate chains, such as those that include Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Namecoin, and Bitcoin, could be compared to Polkadot, but with two significant additions: pooled security and trustless interchain transactability.
