About Cosmos hub (ATOM)
Numerous separate, parallel blockchains, or "zones," make up the Cosmos network. Tendermint, a traditional Byzantine fault-tolerant (BFT) consensus mechanism, powers each zone (already utilized by platforms like ErisDB). By acting as hubs for other zones, some zones enable multi-zone interoperability via a common hub.
The architecture is a broader implementation of the Bitcoin sidechains idea, employing Proof-of-Stake algorithms in place of Proof-of-Work and the traditional BFT method.Other blockchains are not as good at interacting with other applications and coins as Cosmos is. Any blockchain system can be connected to the Cosmos hub by creating a new zone, and tokens can be transferred between those zones without the use of a middleman.
